Max Verstappen absolutely dominated the first-ever sprint race at the Singapore Grand Prix, converting his pole position into a commanding victory despite a wild start. The Red Bull driver lost the lead at the opening lap when George Russell powered past him, but it was all over for Russell on lap one when the Mercedes man crashed out of the race. That handed Verstappen back the lead, and from there he controlled the whole thing to take the win and bank those crucial sprint points.

The podium belonged to Ferrari, with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc finishing second and third respectively. Hamilton delivered a solid performance for the Scuderia to secure a 2.5 second gap back to Verstappen at the flag, while Leclerc rounded out the top three. It was a strong showing for the red team on the night, though you'd have fancied them to challenge Max a bit more given the chaos that unfolded around them.

Mercedes got Andrea Kimi Antonelli across the line in fourth, starting all the way from seventh on the grid. Liam Lawson delivered a respectable result for Racing Bulls in fifth, with Oliver Bearman taking sixth for Haas and Nico Hulkenberg seventh in his Audi. The real drama came at the finish line when Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri made contact on the final lap. Norris managed to nurse his car home in eighth for a point, but Piastri's McLaren didn't make it to the chequered flag, leaving the Woking team with just one finisher from their pair.

The race was an absolute carnival of incidents, with multiple retirements from collisions scattered throughout the field. George Russell's crash was the first major drama, but plenty of other drivers found trouble before the finish. It's exactly the kind of chaos you'd expect from Singapore's tight Marina Bay circuit on a sprint debut, and it certainly made for compelling viewing. Verstappen's ability to bounce back after losing the lead and then controlling the race shows exactly why he's sitting pretty in the championship hunt.
