Norris Claims Final Dutch GP Win After Verstappen's Opening Lap Crash at Zandvoort

Lando Norris took a brilliant victory at the Dutch Grand Prix in what turned out to be Formula 1's farewell to Zandvoort. The McLaren driver edged out Kimi Antonelli in a tense battle, with George Russell rounding out the podium in third. World champion Norris put on a masterclass despite the chaos that unfolded early on, eventually sealing what he described as probably one of his better wins of the season.

The race was thrown into turmoil on just the second lap when Max Verstappen crashed out at his home circuit. The Red Bull driver was caught between Lewis Hamilton and Liam Lawson through the opening corners, with Hamilton squeezing him onto the grass before contact between the two. Verstappen then had another exchange with Lawson at turn three, but the damage was already done. His car was finished, and he made his way to the pits on foot, radioing a resigned 'Yeah, that's it.' The incident brought out the red flags, halting the race temporarily.

When racing resumed, Antonelli got a fantastic start and muscled past Norris down the inside to seize the lead. However, the McLaren driver wasn't about to surrender easily. Oscar Piastri occupied third in that restart, with Russell fourth. The race would go on to feature several investigations into driving infractions and penalties for other drivers, including Esteban Ocon, but the main story was always going to be Norris versus Antonelli up front.

Norris eventually found his way past Antonelli to secure the win, cementing another strong performance for McLaren. The victory capped off a dramatic afternoon at the historic Dutch venue, where unpredictable conditions and multiple restarts tested every driver's skill and patience. With Zandvoort now saying goodbye to Formula 1, this final Dutch GP will be remembered as much for Verstappen's disappointment at home as for Norris's brilliant recovery and triumph.
