Here's the thing that makes this genuinely interesting for Ferrari. The SF-26 has shown proper strong cornering performance all season long, especially through medium and high-speed sequences. That's been confirmed by their internal data and even their rivals Mercedes, McLaren, and Red Bull have admitted it. Sure, that high downforce setup generates drag on straights which murdered them at Monza, but across a technical circuit like Madrid, that penalty basically disappears. The trade-off that killed them last weekend could actually become irrelevant.

Ferrari's also sitting on a massive advantage here. Back on July 9th, they ran a filming day at the Madring with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in the SF-26, covering the maximum 200 kilometres allowed. That means they've got real data on braking points, kerb characteristics, and the layout while every other team's flying in blind. When first practice starts on September 11th, Ferrari will know this circuit better than anyone else.

The pressure's definitely on though. Lewis Hamilton's now 76 points down with 10 rounds left and basically admitted the title fight's slipping away after Monza.
