Ferrari's Singapore Strategy Pays Off as Leclerc Secures Second Place Podium

Charles Leclerc brought home another podium for Scuderia Ferrari HP at the Singapore Grand Prix, finishing second and extending the team's strong run through the tropical races. Starting from second on the grid, the Monegasque driver managed to match his starting position at the checkered flag, adding his fifth podium of the season to Ferrari's tally of 11 so far. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton had a tougher time of things, crossing the line in sixth place after a strategy gamble didn't pay off the way he'd hoped.

Ferrari made the bold call to split strategies between their two drivers, getting Charles on Softs from the start while Lewis began on Mediums. With tyre information scarce before the race, only an hour of free practice under challenging conditions, the Scuderia wanted to throw everything at pole sitter Max Verstappen. When the race began, Charles managed to pressure Verstappen into turn one, though the Red Bull driver ultimately proved too strong all weekend. Lewis's Medium tyres didn't perform as expected, forcing an early stop on lap 19 that dropped him to seventh.

The turning point came when a Virtual Safety Car was deployed on lap 39 to clear Lance Stroll's damaged Aston Martin. Charles dived in for fresh Softs and gained crucial track position, while Lewis missed his pit entry and decided to stay out. From there, the Soft-shod Ferrari driver carved through the field methodically, passing his team-mate within five laps. Lewis, meanwhile, spent a grueling 44-lap stint on one set of tyres and couldn't hold off the McLaren pair, losing three positions in the closing stages.

Lewis took full responsibility for the result, acknowledging his tyre choice didn't pan out. He explained that he was trying something different on a track where overtaking is brutally difficult, and while his pace improved in the second stint, it wasn't enough to recover ground. Charles, by contrast, was satisfied with extracting maximum points and making the right strategic calls when opportunities presented themselves.

It's been a strong weekend overall for the Prancing Horse, who scored a double podium in the Sprint race, locked out the front row, and took second place in the main event. Ferrari now holds 39 points from Singapore and sits firmly in second place in the Constructors' championship. The team heads to Austin in two weeks for the start of another triple-header, all in the Americas, hoping to maintain momentum as the season enters its final stretch.
