Verstappen's Singapore Masterclass Puts Championship on Knife Edge for Antonelli

Max Verstappen and Red Bull are back in business. The Dutch driver absolutely dominated the Singapore Grand Prix, holding off Charles Leclerc's early challenge to control the race from start to finish. It's his second massive win in a week after Malaysia, proving that Red Bull's recent struggles are well and truly behind them. The performance was clinical, dominant, and exactly the kind of statement win you don't want to see from your rivals when the championship's still up for grabs.

But here's the thing, while Verstappen was putting on a masterclass at Marina Bay, Kimi Antonelli was quietly doing his job. The Mercedes driver grabbed third on the podium ahead of some big names, and that result keeps his championship lead absolutely massive at 102 points. The 20-year-old Italian is now just one race away from potentially sealing his maiden world title at the US Grand Prix if results go his way. He needs to win at Austin while George Russell finishes ninth or lower and Lewis Hamilton fails to crack the top four.
Lewis Hamilton's Singapore was a proper disaster though. His Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc took second, but Hamilton's baffling strategy call completely backfired. The seven-time champ refused to pit and tried to stretch his soft tyres for a crazy 44 laps, which left him vulnerable in the closing stages. Antonelli, Lando Norris, and Oscar Piastri all got past him, and he limped home in sixth. It was a head-scratcher of a race from the Ferrari perspective when they should've been fighting harder.

Lando Norris fourth and Oscar Piastri fifth completed the top five, but you could sense the frustration from McLaren. They're still playing catch-up to the top teams and know they need upgrades to properly challenge. George Russell somehow managed ninth place after starting 19th, which shows Mercedes' recovery work is solid even if they're not winning races right now.

The championship picture's getting spicy though. Antonelli's massive lead means the title could be decided in Austin, but Verstappen's form suggests he's going to keep piling on the pressure. Two weeks until Texas.
