Norris Grabs Zandvoort Pole in Rain Drama as McLaren Bounces Back

Lando Norris has snatched pole position for the final Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, putting in a stellar qualifying performance when it mattered most. The McLaren driver clocked a 1m11.163s to pip George Russell and claim the top spot on Sunday's grid. It's a turnaround from the morning's sprint where Norris finished a distant third, but the reigning world champion showed exactly why he's the man to beat when the pressure's on.

Russell's Mercedes will line up second after his strong showing in the sprint, with teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli completing the Mercedes lockout in third. The Italian briefly held the top spot late in Q3 before Norris found that extra bit of pace when it counted. Oscar Piastri couldn't match his teammate and slots into fourth for McLaren, while Lewis Hamilton salvaged fifth in the Ferrari after looking set for a much worse result earlier in the session.

The rain that began falling in the final five minutes of Q3 never got heavy enough to truly shake things up, but it certainly kept everyone on their toes. Charles Leclerc lines up sixth for Ferrari, just ahead of Max Verstappen who struggled all weekend at his home track. Liam Lawson impressed in the second Red Bull seat with seventh place, earning his spot in the final grid.
