Norris Clinches 2026 Dutch GP Pole as Rain Threatens Zandvoort

Lando Norris has grabbed pole position for the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, putting in a storming performance during qualifying to edge out George Russell and Kimi Antonelli. The McLaren driver delivered when it mattered most in the final phase, setting the quickest time despite rain beginning to fall on the circuit as the session wound down. It's another strong showing for the Woking team, who've been clearly the package to beat all weekend.

The qualifying session played out in dramatic fashion with weather playing a key role in the final minutes. Rain started creeping onto the track just as drivers were pushing for their ultimate attempts in Q3, adding an extra layer of difficulty to an already competitive session. Norris managed to get his best lap in before conditions deteriorated further, while Russell came agonisingly close just 151 thousandths behind. Antonelli rounded out the top three, continuing his strong form at Zandvoort.

McLaren's dominance was evident throughout all three qualifying phases. Oscar Piastri put in impressive work during Q2, going toe-to-toe with his teammate for the fastest times and proving the McLarens are operating on a different level this weekend. The team's upgrades brought over the summer break appear to have clicked perfectly at this Dutch venue, giving Norris the confidence and machinery to execute when the pressure ramped up.
