Lando Norris Warns Malaysia Will Be Chaotic, Fears Battery Drama at Sepang

Formula 1 World Champion Lando Norris reckons the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit is going to be absolutely mental. The McLaren driver's expecting proper chaos out there, and he's comparing it to what unfolded during this year's Monza madness. With F1 returning to Malaysia for the first time in nine years, Norris has some serious concerns about how the new generation of power units will handle the circuit's unique demands.

Norris has history with Sepang, believe it or not. Back in his younger days at McLaren, he was grinding away in the sim at ridiculous hours, helping out Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne with their preparation for races at the Malaysian track. He'd be in the factory at midnight driving until 7 in the morning just to support the lads. So while the circuit itself isn't completely foreign territory for him, actually getting behind the wheel there for the first time as a driver will be genuinely exciting.

The real issue though? The battery situation. Norris is genuinely worried that the high-speed corners at Sepang will absolutely drain the electric power reserves if drivers push them flat out. It's a problem that's already showing up elsewhere on the 2026 calendar. When you're managing battery depletion like this, it fundamentally changes how a track feels and drives, stripping away some of its character. That's not ideal when you're trying to put on a proper show, especially with the championship contention heating up.
