Lando Norris Commits Future to McLaren with New Deal Until 2030

Lando Norris has just penned a fresh contract extension with McLaren that'll keep him at Woking through 2030 and beyond. The reigning world champion, who's already won back-to-back races at the Hungaroring and Dutch Grand Prix this season, is doubling down on his commitment to the team after lifting the championship earlier this year. His new deal even comes with a multi-year option that could lock him in even further down the line.

This latest re-signing follows a wave of driver commitments across the grid, with Max Verstappen staying at Red Bull, Carlos Sainz committing to Williams, and Franco Colapinto penning a fresh deal at Alpine. For Norris specifically, extending beyond his previous contract that ran until 2028 with a 2029 option shows just how serious both he and McLaren are about building something special together. The 26-year-old gets a brilliant bonus too, receiving his 2025 championship-winning McLaren MCL39 as a gift.

Norris made it clear why he's staying put. The Briton said he's been chasing his two big goals since joining McLaren nine years ago, and they've finally achieved the first one by getting the team back to the front and winning championships. But he's hungry for more, and he reckons McLaren's got what it takes to keep collecting titles. He's not just thinking about himself either, praising the incredible partnership he's built with his teammates and the whole outfit.

Team principal Andrea Stella was equally thrilled with Norris staying on. Stella called him an exceptional driver with genuine commitment to the team and said the extension gives them continuity and confidence heading forward. With Oscar Piastri already locked in until at least the end of 2028, Stella reckons McLaren's got one of the strongest and most united driver partnerships in Formula 1 right now. That's the kind of stability that wins championships.
