Ferrari made a calculated decision to keep Charles out there, banking on either a red flag or another Safety Car that could've reshuffled everything. The gamble made sense in theory, a red flag would've let him change rubber while holding position, but neither scenario materialised. By lap 48, Leclerc had to pit for Softs and rejoined fourth, where he finished behind Antonelli, Verstappen, and Norris.

Leclerc sounded upbeat about the result afterwards, saying the team maximised what was possible at a track notoriously difficult for overtaking. He also pointed out that even with an opposite strategy call, he'd have ended up fourth anyway, so Ferrari wrung everything from the day they could. Hamilton acknowledged the disappointment of an early retirement after the car had been performing well, while team boss Fred Vasseur defended the strategic approach, noting that extending Charles' first stint was the right call given the circumstances.
