With three laps to go, Antonelli found his way past Russell and held on to the finish. Better yet, he's now the first Italian to win at Monza in 60 years. The emotion was real, mate. A red flag stoppage early in the race helped Antonelli's cause, getting him up to 12th after the restart. From there, his pace was just relentless. He kept pushing and managed to get himself into genuine contention for the win. Russell was struggling with tire degradation down the straights, and when Antonelli got fresh rubber, he had the edge he needed. It was proper racing at its finest, two teammates going at it hammer and tongs with everything on the line.

The result is massive for Antonelli's championship hopes too. This was his seventh win of the season, and he's now extended his lead over Russell to 66 points in the standings. Russell's second place finish is solid, but you can see the frustration there. He felt the team should've pitted him, but splitting the strategy made sense at the time. Max Verstappen finished third for Red Bull, keeping some points on the board.

The day wasn't so good for everyone, though. Charles Leclerc crashed out of Ferrari's home race early on, which was a massive blow for the Scuderia. Lewis Hamilton managed to salvage sixth place in the other red car, but it's hardly the result Ferrari would've wanted at Monza. For Antonelli though, it's a dream come true. He soaked up the atmosphere with the Italian crowd chanting his name on the podium. Madrid's next, and he'll be buzzing off this one for weeks.
