The numbers tell the story. According to various paddock sources, Red Bull has forked out between 1.4 and 1.7 million pounds on repairs this year. Max Verstappen's shunts at Austria and Silverstone have cost them around 561,000 pounds, while rookie Isack Hadjar's crashes in Miami and Monaco have run up a bill between 840,000 and 1.23 million pounds. When you're trying to squeeze every last tenth out of new technical regulations, that's a seriously big chunk of your budget going up in smoke.

It's made worse by the fact Red Bull are also neck and neck with McLaren in the development race, both teams having introduced 37 upgrades so far this season. Meanwhile, championship leaders Mercedes are sitting pretty with just 21 upgrades and haven't had to drop anywhere near as much cash on repairs. If Red Bull keep bleeding money on accident damage while trying to keep pace with upgrades, they could find themselves in a genuinely tight spot when it comes to the final stretch.

This isn't Red Bull's first rodeo with cost-cap drama. They were one of the early teams to breach the 165 million pound budget cap back in 2021 and got absolutely hammered for it, facing a 5.26 million pound fine and wind-tunnel restrictions. The difference now is they don't have Adrian Newey working miracles to get them out of trouble. That means staying efficient with their spending has never been more critical, and these mounting repair bills could force some tough decisions about where to invest their remaining budget.
