Lando Norris delivered a masterclass in fighting spirit at Zandvoort, charging through to claim victory in what turned out to be the final Dutch Grand Prix ever held at the legendary seaside circuit. The McLaren driver showed exactly why he's still in contention for the world championship, mounting a brilliant comeback in the second half of the race to deny Kimi Antonelli and keep his title hopes alive. It wasn't easy though, with the Mercedes driver controlling the early stages after a dramatic first lap that saw championship leader Antonelli make two decisive moves to take the lead.

The race was marked by chaos right from the start when Max Verstappen crashed out in heartbreaking fashion. The Red Bull driver, racing in front of his home crowd, clipped the white line at the final corner on the opening lap which was still damp from overnight rain. The rear went and Verstappen hit the barriers hard, his car coming to pieces in a spectacular but thankfully safe shunt. A 40-minute red flag stoppage followed as the debris was cleared, but the damage was done for the defending world champion. Verstappen showed good humor about it though, admitting he'd simply misjudged the conditions and tried to accelerate too early on the drying track.

After the restart, Antonelli looked commanding out front but Norris and McLaren had other ideas. The British driver's team made a bold strategic gamble, sending him out long before pitting, stretching the gap to his rival and banking on McLaren's recent performance improvements. When Norris emerged on fresh rubber, he was a man on a mission. With just 15 laps to go, he made a spectacular move around the outside of turn one to pass Antonelli and seize control of the race. It was attacking, decisive and exactly what he needed to do.

The victory marked McLaren's resurgence as genuine contenders this season. After struggling in the opening half with a car that was off the pace and difficult to drive, recent upgrades have transformed their competitiveness. George Russell and Antonelli both acknowledged after the race that McLaren now has the fastest car on the grid. For Norris, the win is his second consecutive victory, though he's still trailing Antonelli by a massive 83 points in the championship. Yet as he reminded everyone after taking the chequered flag, there's still plenty of racing left. He pointed to Verstappen's remarkable comeback last year when the Red Bull driver nearly overturned a 104-point deficit, proving that nothing's impossible in Formula 1.
