Pierre Gasly finally got his moment in the sun at Monza. The Alpine driver secured pole position for the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, marking France's 80th pole in Formula 1 history. It's been nearly three decades since a French driver grabbed the top spot at this iconic circuit, with Jean Alesi the last to manage it back in 1997. For Gasly, this pole represents something much bigger than just one qualifying session.

The grid shaped up with George Russell's Mercedes right on Gasly's heels in second, but the Frenchman held firm. Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc split the front two rows from third and fourth respectively, with Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen claiming the third row. This is shaping up to be a cracking race with some serious firepower spread across the grid. Franco Colapinto, Lando Norris, Arvid Lindblad, and Gabriel Bortoleto round out the top ten, giving us a wide mix of pace and experience.

Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez will pilot Cadillac's American entries, whilst Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll represent Aston Martin from further down. At the back of the grid, Kimi Antonelli, Liam Lawson, and Alexander Albon all took engine penalties, meaning they've got some serious work to do on race day.
