Bearman Ready for Top Four: New Haas Deal Delayed But Ambitions Crystal Clear

Oliver Bearman's staying at Haas for 2027, that's locked in. But the British driver isn't hiding the fact that he's got bigger plans brewing. With his contract renewal caught up in paperwork and Ferrari involvement, Bearman's made it abundantly clear he feels ready for a step up the grid, and he's not shy about saying it out loud.

Speaking to media, Bearman explained that both he and Haas team boss Ayao Komatsu are keen to keep working together. The holdup? Pure contractual stuff that's out of his hands. He's left it to his management and Ferrari to sort the details, but what came through loud and clear was his hunger. He reckons he's earned the right to fight for podiums with a top four outfit, and he wants everyone to know it.

Here's the situation. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are currently occupying the two Ferrari seats, so Bearman's path to the Scuderia isn't exactly wide open right now. Hamilton's even mentioned he could still be racing when F1 returns to Africa in the early 2030s, which doesn't exactly clear a route for the Ferrari junior any time soon. Still, as the top prospect in the Ferrari Driver Academy, Bearman remains first in line if opportunity knocks.

What makes this interesting is that Bearman's already got a taste of Ferrari action. He jumped in during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in 2024 when Carlos Sainz had appendicitis, and he delivered by finishing seventh. That result helped convince Ferrari to promote him full-time with Haas for 2025, proving he could handle the pressure when called upon.

For now, Haas is where Bearman wants to be in the midfield, and he's genuinely committed to the team. But his medium to long-term vision is crystal clear: he wants to fight at the front. Whether that happens with Ferrari or another top team down the line remains to be seen, but Bearman's made his intentions impossible to ignore. He's ready whenever the grid reshuffles and the right opportunity opens up.
