The Mercedes driver started from the back of the grid but showed incredible pace and racecraft to blast his way to the front, taking the win just ahead of the Ascari complex in the closing laps. It's a proper fairy tale moment too, because Antonelli became the first Italian to win their home grand prix since 1966. That's a long drought to end, and doing it from that starting position makes it even more special.

George Russell held on for second place in the Mercedes, though he couldn't quite keep Antonelli at bay despite running a different strategy. It was a horror show for Ferrari though, with Lewis Hamilton dropping to sixth after what clearly wasn't his day, while Charles Leclerc's race ended early courtesy of a hefty shunt in the opening stages. McLaren picked up a respectable haul with Lando Norris fourth and Oscar Piastri fifth, but they'll be wondering what might have been. Pierre Gasly produced a shocker by grabbing seventh after his stunning pole position surprise, followed by Arvid Lindblad, Franco Colapinto, and Yuki Tsunoda rounding out the points.
