George Russell's second place at Zandvoort came courtesy of a team order, with Mercedes instructing him to let Antonelli through in the closing stages. Russell accepted the call without complaint, acknowledging that his teammate deserved the position. Behind the scenes though, Mercedes is facing some real headaches. Team principal Toto Wolff admitted the squad doesn't have the budget to keep pace with the upgrades Ferrari and McLaren are rolling out. That's a concerning admission for a team that enjoyed such a strong start to the season. Their advantage has been slowly eroded by their rivals' development work, and throwing money at the problem simply isn't an option right now.

Lewis Hamilton remains stuck at Ferrari without making meaningful progress up the standings. The seven-time world champion finished fourth at Zandvoort and clearly has frustrations about the Scuderia's execution and strategy calls.
