Hamilton and Leclerc Back Vasseur as Ferrari Unity Holds Strong Against Leadership Speculation

Lewis Hamilton has firmly rejected the swirling speculation about Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur's future, throwing his full weight behind the boss and insisting the team remains completely united. The seven-time world champion's defence comes after former Red Bull chief Christian Horner sparked fresh rumours by expressing interest in leading the Scuderia. But Hamilton's message is crystal clear: Vasseur is the right man for the job and Ferrari's internal group isn't rattled by outside noise.

Hamilton went further in his analysis, pointing out that blaming a single team principal for every setback is fundamentally misguided. He explained that Formula 1 teams operate through collective decision-making across leadership, engineering, and operations, so pinning all responsibility on one person ignores how the organisation actually works. The Maranello staff are focused on their jobs rather than chasing the headlines, and that's exactly where their heads need to be. Hamilton welcomed Ferrari's public show of unity and stressed that negative coverage hasn't dented morale inside the team.

Charles Leclerc jumped in to support his boss as well, calling the speculation unfair and highlighting both his working relationship with Vasseur and the team principal's capabilities. Leclerc, who's raced for Ferrari since 2019 and previously worked with Vasseur at Sauber, pointed out that everyone inside the team backs him consistently. With Formula 1 heading into its new technical era in 2026, that kind of continuity could be crucial. Constantly chopping and changing leadership during rough patches can destabilise long-term development work, even if it doesn't guarantee immediate results.

Vasseur took over at Ferrari in 2023, arriving into a team that had cycled through several principals over the years. Mattia Binotto and Maurizio Arrivabene each spent roughly four years in the role, while Marco Mattiacci's stint lasted just seven months. That history explains why leadership rumours seem to resurface whenever Ferrari falls short of expectations. But both Hamilton and Leclerc want the team judged on its actual progress and work, not speculation. For now, Ferrari's two top drivers have made their stance absolutely clear: critics should direct their focus elsewhere.
