Ferrari's showing some serious pace at their home track. Charles Leclerc absolutely led the way in first practice at Monza, clocking a 1m23.008s to set the benchmark for the field. His teammate Lewis Hamilton followed him home in second spot, just 0.173 seconds adrift, giving the Scuderia a commanding one-two as they run their special livery for the Italian Grand Prix.

Mercedes got their main challenger in third with George Russell, but he's still nearly three-tenths off Leclerc's pace. Red Bull had Liam Lawson in fourth, though Max Verstappen sat out the session to give rookie Ayumu Iwasa some valuable track time in the car. Kimi Antonelli rounded out the top five for Mercedes, though the Italian's weekend just got a lot tougher with a back-of-grid penalty incoming after an engine change.

Lando Norris was sixth fastest for McLaren, fresh off winning both Hungary and Zandvoort. The rest of the field sorted themselves out with Arvid Lindblad seventh ahead of Gabriel Bortoleto's Audi and Franco Colapinto's Alpine. Oscar Piastri had a quieter day in eleventh, while Carlos Sainz's Williams and Fernando Alonso's Aston Martin were further back in the order.

It's shaping up nicely for Ferrari heading into qualifying and the race. Having both their drivers up front and running that special paint job makes this weekend feel like the real deal at Monza.
