Ferrari, Aston and Alpine Arrive at Zandvoort with Big Upgrade Plans

The FIA's upgrade list for the Dutch Grand Prix is packed with development packages, and it's clear several teams are determined to make a statement at Zandvoort. Ferrari have brought five performance upgrades to their SF-24, focusing heavily on the floor with three separate changes designed to increase aerodynamic load across the board. The Scuderia's also updated the diffuser and beam wing, targeting improved flow mechanisms and better energy delivery to the rear of the car. It's a solid push from the red team as they look to close the gap to the front runners.

McLaren come next on the upgrade list after their impressive Hungarian Grand Prix win, introducing three changes including updates to the rear wing, engine cover, and rear corner. The papaya squad knows the competition is razor tight and that every tenth counts between now and the summer break. Meanwhile, the championship leaders Mercedes have taken a more conservative approach with just one front corner upgrade aimed at improving flow conditioning. Red Bull have also stuck with a single change, another front corner adjustment to boost reliability on their car.

Further down the grid, Aston Martin are bringing five aero upgrades as they continue their mid-season push for improvement, with changes to the front wing, floor fences, and diffuser. But it's Alpine who're topping the upgrade list this weekend with an impressive eight new components. The Enstone team have targeted three floor improvements along with upgrades to the diffuser, sidepods, rear corner, rear impact structure, and rear wing, showing serious ambition as they sit sixth in the championship.

There's one catch for Alpine though, and it's worth noting. Pierre Gasly will get access to all the new bits this weekend during practice and the sprint qualifying session, but Franco Colapinto will have to wait until Monza before he can run identical components. Alpine's managing director Steve Nielsen expressed hope that the upgrades would help them fight for points in what he described as a close championship battle. With Zandvoort kicking off this weekend, we're about to see just how much these new packages matter on track.
